Artek E60 stool designed by Alvar Aalto. One of Alvar's most famous designs. The E60 model is slightly different from the model 60, because the E60 stool as an extra leg. The 60 has three legs where the E60 has four. It's made in Finland from solid birch L-legs and a veneered top. We have three of these beautiful pieces available from approximately the 1970s. All three are in good vintage condition with normal signs of use as can be seen in the pictures.

Alvar Aalto, together with carpenter Otto Korhonen, began experimenting with bending solid wood in the late 1920s. The collaboration resulted in an L-leg, which was an invention that took a step towards the mass production of Aalto’s furniture. Alvar Aalto patented the L-leg bending technique in 1933. L-leg became to be the standard component for Aalto’s furniture design and based on the invention also Y-leg and X-leg were later developed.
