Artek Desk or Dining Table by Alvar Aalto (Red)

Vintage Artek desk or dining table with red linoleum table top. This is an older piece from approximately the 1950s and manufactured in Finland. This dining table is one of Alvar Aalto's famous designs. It's simple and timeless. Made with birch wooden L-legs and red linoleum table top. The table is in great condition with normal signs of usage on the table top which can be seen in the pictures. This table is perfect as a desk set up or as a small dining table for in the kitchen.

Alvar Aalto, together with carpenter Otto Korhonen, began experimenting with bending solid wood in the late 1920s. The collaboration resulted in an L-leg, which was an invention that took a step towards the mass production of Aalto’s furniture. Alvar Aalto patented the L-leg bending technique in 1933. L-leg became to be the standard component for Aalto’s furniture design and based on the invention also Y-leg and X-leg were later developed.
