Fog & Mørup Diabolo Floor Lamp by Jo Hammerborg
What a beauty! This diabolo floor lamp designed by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Mørup. Designed in the 1960s and manufactured in Denmark. This lamp has such a beautiful shape and use of materials. It truly resembles the time period where the space craze was at its peak.
The lamp is in great condition and only has some small marks of usage which are normal for its age. It features two bulb, one in the top part shining upwards and a larger bulb in the bottom part which shines down. The lamp can be adjusted in height and also the angle of the shade can be slightly adjusted thanks to the ball-socket joint.
In 1904 A. Fog and E. Mørup began to develop the idea of going into business. Their company was founded, and a few years later they moved to Copenhagen and began to specialise in lighting design.
At the end of the 1950s, the company emerged as an important producer of lighting design, and in 1957 Johannes Hammerborg was appointed as head of design.
Hammerborgs innovative modernist designs became the trademark style of the company during the 1960s and moved the company into the forefront of Danish modernist design. His signature was to create a model in a few different finishes or materials, and use these variations across the product lines. Jo Hammerborg's designs won numerous design awards during his career at Fog and Mørup..
