Artek Model 60 Stool by Alvar Aalto (Birch)

Artek Model 60 stools designed by Alvar Aalto. The most famous design by Alvar Aalto. It's approximately from the 1960s and made in Finland from solid birch wood L-legs with a birch veneer top. This stool is in good vintage condition. As shown in the pictures you can see that this stool is in used condition and there is a small part of the veneer gone from the bottom. You don't see this when the stool is in use.

Alvar Aalto, together with carpenter Otto Korhonen, began experimenting with bending solid wood in the late 1920s. The collaboration resulted in an L-leg, which was an invention that took a step towards the mass production of Aalto’s furniture. Alvar Aalto patented the L-leg bending technique in 1933. L-leg became to be the standard component for Aalto’s furniture design and based on the invention also Y-leg and X-leg were later developed.
