Artek 95 Half Round Dining Table by Alvar Aalto (Red)
Artek model 95 half round dining table designed by Alvar Aalto. Designed in the 1935 and manufactured in Finland. This table is from the 1950s and made from birch wood with a red linoleum top. The table is hollow on the underside with indicates its age. The special feature of this table is the semi-circular table top and the L-shaped legs, which make the otherwise simple table an absolute eye-catcher. This shape is ideal for smaller apartments that do not fit a large dining table. The semi-circular table is simply placed against the wall and offers enough space for two chairs or stools, or you put two of them together to create a round table. We have two in stock so that's possible. Both tables are in good vintage condition with signs and marks of use which are normal for a table this age.

Alvar Aalto, together with carpenter Otto Korhonen, began experimenting with bending solid wood in the late 1920s. The collaboration resulted in an L-leg, which was an invention that took a step towards the mass production of Aalto’s furniture. Alvar Aalto patented the L-leg bending technique in 1933. L-leg became to be the standard component for Aalto’s furniture design and based on the invention also Y-leg and X-leg were later developed.
